Everlane Just Launched Its First Swimwear Line—and It Starts at $30 – AFAR Media

The intersection of sustainability and affordability can be a small sliver of the Venn diagram of swimwear options these days. Thankfully, Everlane just debuted its first-ever swim collection that not only is ethically manufactured from mostly recycled materials but also tops out at just $70 for a one-piece suit.

Each item in the new Swim by Everlane collection is crafted from 82 percent regenerated nylon made with recycled plastic. (The other 18 percent is elastane, which can’t be sourced from recycled materials—yet—but Everlane says it’s working on it.) The result is a quick-drying and fade-resistant suit that can be machine washed in cold water and hang dried. read more

Out of all the brands that claim to have a “cult following,” no one’s grip on shoppers is stronger than that of Everlane. Their commitment to radical transparency via ethical practices, high-quality garments and a curated-but-cool minimalist aesthetic has made them the kind of brand that fans line up to buy from. No, really—I’ve walked by their store on Prince Street in New York City and seen lines wrapping around the block. Knowing this, I had a feeling Everlane’s swimwear debut would be a hit even before I saw the collection. Then, I saw them, and I was even more sure. read more

Everlane’s new swimwear collection includes seven styles — three bikini tops, two bikini bottoms and two one-piece swimsuits. It isn’t the first time that the brand has dipped its toes into swimwear — Everlane once offered a currently sold out swim short and currently carries a sport short you can also swim in — but this is its first complete swimwear collection. Prices range from $30 to $70 and the pieces are available in sizes XXS to XXL. The brand began developing this collection in 2018, according to Sonia Martin, vice president of design at Everlane. read more

Everlane, your go-to destination for sustainable and affordable basics, is launching a line of premium-quality swimwear made with the recycled fabric Econyl, a feat that took years in the making. Kimberley Smith, Everlane’s chief supply chain officer, says the brand has been working on a swim line since 2018, but didn’t want to rush or “compromise on the quality or the environmental impact when creating our first swim collection.” Smith notes that the pieces are made of 82 percent recycled fabrics, and they’re actively working on getting that number to 100. All in all, the line is made of 13,768 pounds of recycled plastic that would have otherwise ended up in the same oceans we want to vacation beachside at. “Being able to take plastic waste out of the ocean and landfills and turn it into something beautiful is something we’re really proud of,” says Smith. read more
