We’ve all seen billboards of skinny sun-kissed models in sizzling swimwear – but they’re a long way from the lived reality of most women.

So Australian swimsuit brand Curvy Swimwear has chosen plus-sized model April Helene-Horton to be the face and body of the label’s latest campaign.

Helene-Horton will appear on digital billboards in Melbourne, Sydney and other locations nationally as part of Curvy’s ‘Beach Please’ campaign.

It is the first time ever in Australia that a plus-sized model has worn a bikini on a billboard. read more

What does Juliette’s collab look like?

Juliette announced on her Instagram page earlier this week that she had partnered with Blonde Addiction Label to launch a limited line of swimsuits. She said that she’s doing this prior to the official launch of her own line, and she “couldn’t be more excited” about this new adventure. She’s working with Meredith Grier and Jaymi Z. Washburn, both of whom were on Siesta Key last season, according to Juliette’s IG post. Meredith is the co-owner of Blonde Addiction Label, and Jaymi is the co-owner of Trend Studio Bali, where Juliette’s full line will be designed. read more

Geneviève Andre de la Porte is using a sustainability-minded business approach she learned while working in the food industry and applying it to swimwear. Her label, Zonarch, is out today.

The Belgian designer, who studied international business in California, was influenced by her experience in marketing at American superfood company Sambazon, which produces and sells foods and drinks made using organic açaí harvested by family farmers in the Amazon. Led by founders Jeremy Black, Ryan Black and Edmund Nichols, the company is Fair Trade Certified and works to protect the biodiversity of the rainforest, while giving back to local communities in the Amazon by building health care centers and schools. read more

As colder temperatures and the approach of winter settle over Pennsylvania, swimwear is probably the last thing on anyone’s mind but, for Cassandra Kuzneski, 20, founder of Cassea Swim, swimwear is a year-round endeavor.

Originally from Indiana, Kuzneski, the daughter of Joseph Kuzneski and Lisa Harven Kuzneski, both of Indiana, left her hometown at 18 to work in Spain before eventually returning to the States, living in San Diego and then finally in Los Angeles.

“I worked a few jobs,” Kuzneski said. “I did marketing for Google and worked for an ammunition company for a while, but it was all just saving up money to invest in my swimwear line.” read more
